To coincide with the showing of Andrew Bracey's film for Bummock: the Lace archive, here is Robert Steadman's soundtrack for the 30-minute film.

Robert Steadman is one of 10 composers each of whom has been asked to compose a soundtrack for a 30-minute film, Bummock, created by artist Andrew Bracey. It will be shown at the Backlit Gallery, Nottingham in January/February 2018.

"From hundreds of possibilities of choice within the lace archive, I have focused on just one page of a technical ledger to make over five hundred individual drawings have been made of details of the ledger page, with different degrees of magnification, abstraction and decipherability. The drawings have been collated in an artist’s book and have been further transformed into an animation that recalls, in its repetition of movement, the machines used in the factories to manufacture lace."
